Thanks for report. Planning on fishing for sturgeon for the first time next month and any tips are appreciated.

    Pittsburg Sunday 12-8

Made a trip with a couple buddies on Sunday. Launched at Sherman and ran down river looking for fish.

Stopped about Pittsburg on some promising marks. Got that fishy feeling pretty quick as there were fish rolling and jumping all over the place. Incoming tide started to pickup and so did the fish. Picked up a 42” fish pretty quick. Had two more on for a few seconds and missed a couple pumps.

Kind of frustrating, felt like a missed opportunity. Eventually current picked up and bite died.

Tried little cut, above the moth ball fleet and back to Pittsburg for the outgo. A couple shaker Stripers and a 20” sturgeon were all we could muster to fill out the day.

Most boats we saw hard a fish, some two. If you get a chance there are fish to be had. Roe, eel and ghost shrimp all got bit. Make sure you’ve got an anchor/rope and enough weight to park and stay down in 60’ of water with a stiff tide. Be prepared to deal with lots of weeds and check baits every 10-15 minutes.

Hoping to get one more keeper before the end of the year.
