Glad you got into a few. Mother Nature is a big part of that game. Dont hear much about guys plunking during high water on guided trips. I get guides dont like to have folks pay to fish in poor conditions but its a long haul to get up that way and a shot at the fish you got seems like it would be worth it.

    Nice trip and report.

    Smith River 1/27 - 1/29

Went with Captn Andy Martin with my dad and two uncles earlier this week. Weather wasn't looking to great the whole month, but we couldn't reschedule.

We went plunking all 3 days.

Mon 1/27 - Rained off and all day. Had someteo bites belie Ruby's that didn't stick. I hooked into real nice one that was stripping line out. As soon as the fish stopped I started feeling. Got about 5 cranks and fish came unbuttoned. That was it for that day.

Tues 1/28 - launched a little further upstream slower today. Had few grabs then my dad got his first steelhead (was wild). Got a little video, took some pics and released. That was it for day

We'd 1/29 - Launched same place as day before. Water level down, clarity was green not as brown as day before. Still to quick to sidedrift, so back to plunking like days before. Waters looked promising anchor in a spot got some hits then my uncle got his very first ever steelhead. I was super happy for him. Got a short video, some pics and back in the Smith the Wild Steelhead went

Was hoping for more action and really really wanted to get my other uncle a steelhead also, but wasn't meant to be. Both Andy Marrin and the other guide that helped him in another boat (Rye) where awesome. Highly recommend.
