Re: Two weeks on the road... Part 1 Pyramid 6/7-6/10

Yeah Eagle was tough. We fished morning and evening for four days and landed 4. We worked for those four though. It seemed like we had a shot at 1 fish a day and if we missed it, that was it. When we did get one, it was worth it and I do have to say that the ELT we kept was the best fish I've ever tasted. :D There is a post on our Eagle trip down aways on the board if you want to check it out I'm pretty proud of those puppies ;D

Way to go guys. That lake is hands down my favorite fishery. Where on earth can you catch big fish and big numbers like Pyramid. You guys did pretty danged well for your first trip. Trust me, slinging iron off the bank can be a tough way to catch fish. Your 25" looks to be an average girthed fish, that should put it right between 4.5 and 5 Lbs. I would say by looking at it, right about 4.75 Lbs. I take length and weights on lots of the fish I catch out there, so I hope that gives you an idea.

You guys are really doing a tour of some great lakes. I think you may have a tough time getting fish off the bank at Eagle right now. If you think those LCTs are tasty, just wait unitl you bite into an ELT.

No problem, I always make sure I have the regs right especially when I'm fishing somewhere new that has special regs! I'd hate to get it wrong which can quickly turn a good time into a bad one. You did scare me for sec though :)

The slot limiting out there has those 18 inch ones in the "throw back" category. *It truly is a desert jewel without question. It sure looks like it was a fantastic time. Congrats.

    Take care,
    Ben.
I could be mistaken but I thought you could keep 2 fish between 17 and 20 inches or 1 fish between 17 and 20 and 1 over 24 inches.

I think the fish you have to release are anything under 17 or between 20 and 24.

AAAArrrrgggghhhh! Please allow me to now put on a dress, and you can all call me Miss Informed. :-[ Sorry for any confusions. I clearly don't know what the hell I'm talking about. I just didn't want anyone to get in trouble, and it was me that didn't have the #s correct. Again, I greatly apologize. By the way, I forgot to mention it, BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS! Best of luck to you guys.

    Take care,
    Ben.

The lake is magical. She has many faces; she'll hook you and keep drawing you back.

    Great report. Good read
I like that you just cruised in there, got a feel for the place, found a spot, and did well. Nice job. Looking forward to the next chapter

Sandshark has it right, 2 between 17" and 20" or 1 of those and 1 over 24". We stopped by the ranger station on the way in to make sure we had the regs right. ;) And Mack I'm not sure what that one weighed, but it was about 25" we did a quick measure then back into the drink he went.
