2025 Was a Very Tough Year for Steelhead Fishing

SOMES BAR – The basic summary for sport fishing here in the Middle Klamath is that there were NOT the historical numbers of steelhead in 2025 that I have personally seen in the 32 years of guided fishing I have done here in the middle Klamath.

The last two years of steelhead sport fishing were completely lost after dam removals, and the visible sediments suspended in the river were horrific. The 2025 season had an improved level of reduced visible sedimentation, but the early Fall periods were continuously loaded with floating globules of moss that would clog up a terminal tackle item after every cast.
