The Sacramento River carries that classic big-river energy with its wide stretches, tree-covered banks, and the kind of valley landscape that makes for a solid day on the water. You get out there chasing stripers and it feels real, like you're part of the flow instead of just passing through. The water has its own rhythm this time of year, and when the bite's on it turns an ordinary trip into something you talk about later at the dock.
Jeff Lechtaler has been getting out there this week with Maci and Danny, and the action has been great. The fish are already showing up and staying tight despite the water temps. It's a promising start to what could be a good run if the conditions hold.
“Pending temps, rains, and river flows it may be a short season but hoping it lasts well into May. Fish caught tonight were still tight despite water temps.”
